Post Photo Gallery: Weekend Music Roundup

by Post Editors on April 27, 2010

With so many musical events over the weekend, The Ithaca Post proudly presents a three-day music round-up; a chance to catch-up, and see what you might have missed, or what you might have heard about, going on in clubs and venues around the city. Bassist Christian McBride brought his quintet to Cornell Friday. Formed in June 2007, the group Inside Straight made its debut at the Village Vanguard, marking the first time in 10 years that McBride appeared there as a leader. His work showcased hard swing-to-bluesy groove tunes from his recent record “Kind of Brown” and the quintet, which has performed from the Vanguard to make appearances at the Monterey Jazz Festival and in Brazil, and for select 2010 dates, including the Cornell show, displayed its prowess as a group and individually with frequent solos.
