After an almost five year absence, Plastic Nebraska reunited Sunday, May 30 for the annual Boogie Shakedown. In a short but well-loved set of 10 or so songs, the band stretched through popular numbers from “Stories of Happiness” (2003) and “His Head is a House” (1997), as well as offering up an improvisational number and a cover of a Camper van Beethoven song. The crowd, mostly family and friends, responded with ecstatic joy, and dancing, and at the end of the 40-minute set called for an encore. Though the encore was not forthcoming, one can’t help but hope Plastic will play again soon, more publicly, and more frequently. – LZF
