RUNNING TO PLACES THEATRE COMPANY’S SUMMER PRODUCTION “Guys and Dolls,” will be performed Friday through Sunday at The State Theatre of Ithaca.
In “Guys and Dolls,” Sarah Brown (played by Sarah Steurer of Candor) runs an honest mission and Miss Adelaide (Valerie Kilmer of Ithaca) just wants to be made an honest woman. But will their “Guys” come through? Sky Masterson (Adam Beckwith of Lansing) never expected to fall for a “mission doll” like Sarah, but he did; what’s a bettin’ man to do? And Nathan Detroit (Jeremy Pletter of Ithaca) is wild about Adelaide, but … marriage? There’s more than dough at stake when the dice roll in this classic musical.
Well-known songs from the show, in addition to the title song, include “Luck Be a Lady,” “I’ve Never Been in Love Before” and “Bushel and a Peck.”
The Running to Places show is directed by Joey Steinhagen; choreography is by Todd Peterson. Music Director Mike Wade and Producer Gail Belokur are joined by a talented design team, including Alexander Woodward (scenic), Max Doolittle (lighting) and Carolyn Koppel (costumes) and a cast comprised of Tompkins County’s promising young talent.
Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. To purchase tickets, go to The State Theatre box office, 105 W. State St., Ithaca, go to www.stateofithaca.com or call 277-8283.
