Halloween Happenings

by Post Editors on October 29, 2010

Hubcap will open for a re-united Plastic Nebraska Saturday, Oct. 30 at The Chapter House.

IN TIME FOR HALLOWEEN, Joe Novelli will bring his “ghostly” slide guitar to Ithaca this Friday, playing with his new project, Marvin & the Cloud Wall, at Delilah’s on Cayuga (formerly the WildFire Lounge). Novelli blends rock, blues, and his love for rugged upstate New York with variations of American literary expression. The Tin Teardrops, the new project of Mike Cook, Alan Pauling and Johnny Dowd will open, with Gabriel Miller Phillips. 8 p.m., Friday, $5.

For the last several years, the unearthly sounds of Plastic Nebraska have been featured alongside the rock band Hubcap at a yearly costume party held on or around Halloween. Last year the event didn’t happen, but this year the show, billed as “Clash of the Curmudgeons,” will once again go on. Hubcap will open, with Plastic Nebraska to follow. 10:00 p.m., Saturday, at The Chapter House, $5.

But the place to see the best costumes will probably be at the Westy on Halloween proper. HalloWESTY, a costume party hosted by Kokoa Chanel, will get started Sunday evening. Chanel and Spencer Jackson, both longstanding repeat acts, will be performing, and Chanel will awarding prices of $50 for the best costume and $25 for the worst. Draft specials will be on tap throughout the evening. 8 to 10 p.m., no cover.
